Turn The Radio Up....

I used to have a 30 minute drive to work.  I never minded the drive because it gave me time to think and listen to my tunes.  The scenery was pleasant with tall pines and oaks all along the way.

One day as I was making my way to work and singing along with the radio I realized something.  Because of the dense forest the reception for the radio was not good.  When I stopped singing I noticed I could not clearly understand the words. I noticed that while I could not clearly make out the words I was singing along anyway.

Then Jesus told me that sometimes my interaction with HIM was like that.  I was so accustomed to the way things usually went in the Kingdom and was often too assuming of what HE wanted in a circumstance that the waves bringing HIS voice to me were not clear.  Just like with the radio that day I was singing along but not getting all the words and pauses right because I could not clearly hear the radio. I just kept singing because I had heard the song enough I could fill in most of the words.  It wasn’t until the static became disturbing that I stopped singing and could hear what was wrong.

Often the static of life events interfere with my hearing HIS voice clearly. The first inclination is to simply keep turning the radio up.  But as we all know that also increases the static.  It is not until we turn the noise down, become still and listen that we can hear clearly.

I want my life to be in harmony with the sound of heaven.  For the rhythm of my life to match the life of Jesus.  I pray to be able to eliminate the static of the world’s clamoring for my attention.  Often other “stations” try to bleed in.  But if I will purpose to set my dial to the frequency of heaven I will be able to clearly hear every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.  When that happens I will be singing the right words at the right time.

Hope to see you soon in the Tea Room.
