When lamenting a heavy schedule many ministers have groaned that two thirds of God’s name is “go”.
There is a scripture that has blessed me many times even though the text I am using is not complete. It is I Sam. 16:1. It refers to the time when God told Samuel HE had rejected Saul. God told Samuel to stop mourning, fill his horn and go anoint David.
At times in the scripture the word horn can refer to our mouths. Each time I read that scripture I realize that I cannot let things get me down. I must fill my mouth with the truth and victory of Christ and HIS Word and go. Go to all that will receive me, go to the unreached in my world, go to the disappointed and the grieving. Just go!!!
God understands that we have issues to work through. But we cannot let those issues stop us from being the arms and feet of Christ. Like Samuel we are tempted at times to rethink everything. To lament poor decisions or cry over lost relationships and missed opportunities. But this scripture always brings to my mind that HIS mercies are new every morning. Each day I can lift my heart toward heaven and drink in the love and grace HE pours out. Then I can take of that which I have been given and find those HE has prepared to receive it.
God knew David was prepared to receive the anointing as king. Thankfully Samuel trusted God enough to let Saul go and reach forward to what God had ahead. Too many times I have been found sorrying over things that I cannot change and missing things God is trying to unfold before me.
I look at our ministry and say, “took 30 years to build and 3 weeks to wipe out”. That is a “Samuel” thought, a mourning thought. God is saying, “now that the calendar is all cleared off, guess what I am going to do with all that time. Baby Girl, fill your horn with the oil of the Holy Spirit and go every time and everywhere I tell you”.
There is an excitement building in me. There is hope rising. Things will not be as I have known them to be but they will be as HE wants them to be. Perhaps you are at a place where you are not sure what is going on. The familiar keeps calling you and you long for what was in the past because you understood it and were comfortable with it. But God is asking us to let go of what we knew and reach for what HE knows. The unknown is uncomfortable but we find that as we are willing to launch into the deep HE will guide our course. We will find completeness like we have never known.
I had a friend one time that was reluctant to try anything he was not familiar with. He used to tell me, “there’s security in bondage”. He was right. Our boundaries may make us feel secure but they limit how far Jesus can take us.
Until you spread your wings you have no idea how far you can fly!!!!!!!!! NOW GO!!!!!
