Blessings in Disguise...

People who know me really, really, really, well consider me a person of faith.  When I am sure God has spoken to me I head out in that direction with no thought of backing up or changing course.

But a few years ago a song caught my attention entitled, “Blessings in Disguise”.  I listened to the song several times as Jesus spoke to my heart.  In the sweetest voice HE said, “I am glad you have grown to the place that you can see the truth in that song.  For the song was certainly breathed by ME.”

As I reflected on what HE said and then looked over events of past years my heart rejoiced.  I realized there were times that only through tearfully seeking an answer did I draw so very close to HIS heart.  I tell you unashamedly that I would walk through those events many times again if it brought HIM nearer and nearer and nearer.  I realize that many say it is as we stand in faith in the face of obstacles that we come to know HIM.  And there is truth in that as far as it goes.  But there is something about coming as a broken vessel to HIS feet in full surrender that causes HIM to put us on HIS lap and hold us tightly. There is a sweetness in the surrender that says, “I may not understand all that is happening right now, but that is okay because I do know the ONE that is holding me and HE will turn this into a blessing”.

If you experience moments of confusion, bewilderment, or fear, rest in HIM and HIS unchanging, all-powerful love.  A love that breathes out over whatever is happening and brings HIS peace to it.  As HIS peace takes hold you begin to see the beauty lying beneath the surface of what seemed a hindrance.  In the surrender you find the reality of the scripture “that in our weakness HE is made strong”.

Hope to see you in a Tea Room soon,

Elizabeth
