We keep our son’s puppy at times and I am learning so many things from him. Last night Ray and I were lying down reading and the puppy got on the bed with his toys to join us. He has a rawhide bone he had been working on. As I watched him last night I saw a great practice I need to incorporate into my daily life.
Watching him brought to mind the scripture “taste and see that the Lord is good.” Cass, the puppy, would bite down on the bone and of course it was difficult to get a piece of. But he would not give up. He continued to work on the end of that bone until he could get a small piece off. Then he would savor it in his mouth. His little eyes were dancing as he let the taste of the bone flow over every taste bud.
As I watched him work for 10-15 minutes to get one small morsel of bone in his mouth I heard the Spirit say to me, “he knows that the benefit is worth the effort. Not only is the taste pleasant to his tongue but the nutrients are carried through his body giving him strength and energy. MY Word is the same for you. At times it can be difficult to get hold of. The process of getting them into your life is too difficult in your eyes. “
I continued to watch Cass and admire his persistence to get what was going to be pleasant and beneficial to him. The difficulty of the process did not deter him. He would not give up until he got what he went after. Yes, at times he had to take a moment to rest his jaws. At times the nawing noise was irritating to those of us near. But none of that mattered. He was determined to break the bone down into something that would do him some good.
May I be as diligent to take the Word of God daily and chew upon it until it becomes a part of me. Filling me with the nutrients needed to build the fruit of the Spirit and the gifts of the Spirit in my life.
Hope to see you in a Tea Room soon,
