Row, Row, Row Your Boat...

Saw such a wonderful church sign recently.  It was wonderful and painful at the same time.  The stated, “the person pulling the oars doesn’t have time to rock the boat”.  Wow!!!!!

As I thought on the message I wondered how many times it had (or does) apply to my life.  I know you are not like me but I have a tendency to be critical at times.  Have you ever belonged to an organization or had a job and were always pointing out the shortcomings instead of the strengths?  That is what the sign is warning against.  A sort of checkup that if you are the one sowing critical seeds it might mean you are not actively rowing the oars to help the entity or person get to where they need to be.

As I have passed that sign many times over the past weeks I have breathed a prayer as well as re-read the sign.  My prayer has been that I would be so busy rowing and assisting others to get where they are supposed to be that I would not have time or energy to notice or make a deal of any shortcomings that crop up along the journey.

The sign has reminded me of the scripture, “whatever is lovely, pure, of good report, etc. “  If I am looking for those good report areas I might not notice so many shortcomings.  And even if I do notice some, it is my responsibility to pray about them not broadcast them.

When I see Jesus I want to have biceps big enough to hang a swing on due to my forceful rowing to get the Kingdom advanced in every area.

Hope to see you soon in a Tea Room,

Elizabeth Foy
