I may be the only one that feels it is difficult at times to push forward with unanswered prayers in my life. But there is a wonderful couple who encourages me to know that what I see as denial may not be. I often remind myself there is much going on above my head in the spirit world. I need to trust Jesus and fill my heart with joy while doing so.
The couple I refer to is Zacharias and Elizabeth. When we meet them in scripture we are told they had no children and were advanced in age. In spite of this unanswered prayer, we find Zacharias heading off to perform his duties at the temple. The fact God had not given him the most important thing in his culture did not deter his faithfulness to the duties of being a priest of God.
He encounters an angel in the Temple who makes an interesting statement. The angel says, “Your prayers ARE heard in heaven, you shall have a son”. Read the verses. There is no mention of him asking for a son at that time. In fact, he was only there to represent the people before God for the forgiveness of their sins. Reflecting on the statement of the angel I have come to believe something. Just as God said let there be light and there is still light expanding in the universe, our words have an ongoing power in heaven. After all we are made in our FATHER’s image. We can safely imagine it had been years since he and Elizabeth had prayed about the blessing of a son. After all, the scripture makes a point of telling us they were ADVANCED in age. But the angel told him his prayer IS heard (present tense).
Please take courage that the prayers you have prayed that appear denied are still being heard in heaven. All we must do is remain faithful as the “priests” of God that Paul tells us we are. To not let unanswered prayers affect our commitment to the KINGDOM and the things HE has assigned each of us.
WE ARE BEING HEARD AND HE WILL ANSWER.
Hope to see you in the Tea Room soon.
