I have been thinking and learning a lot over these past few months. I have come to know that information is paramount. Believe me if I had more information concerning some of my recent procedures my decisions would have been very different. There is something else I am re-evaluating in my life.
I know none of you are like me but I at times have settled for something less than I first started out reaching for. It could be something as simple as settling for a yellow blouse when I really wanted a peach color to as serious as knowing I should reach out physically to assist someone and settling for praying for them instead. As I mulled this over I was prompted by the Holy Spirit to press in concerning my recent physical challenge. As always in the Kingdom, HE promised if I learned it in this arena I could apply it in all arenas.
We often read in scripture where people came to Jesus for healing. As HE ministered to them and they received their healing, HE would respond that they were now whole. As I thought on this I realized that I did not need to be healed. I need to be whole. You see, the cancer and the ensuing surgeries affected more than just my physical health. It depleted financial resources certainly, but more than that it attacked my mental and emotional state. Far in the subconscious where it could not be easily touched there was a devastating battle occurring.
Like most people I have been praying to be well. To be protected from the cancer recurring. But a few days ago HE whispered, “Baby Girl, you don’t need to be well, you need to be whole.” As the Holy Spirit ministered to me He highlighted how the enemy had eaten away at certain areas. HE pointed out a few bricks missing in my wall. Then I was brought into remembrance of HIS restorative power. His resurrection power. I praised HIM because HE doesn’t do things half way and that if I would submit HE would make sure that I didn’t settle for just being well. I say submit because to be whole means I have to be willing to let HIM open and deal with areas I am either unaware of or don’t want touched because it may be too painful or embarrassing.
But as I have sat and talked with HIM it has become clear. I have to decide if I want to settle for just being well or if I want to go all the way and be whole. Perhaps in your quiet time HE will reveal areas where you are settling for less than HE is able to provide.
Hope to see you in a Tea Room soon,
Elizabeth
