Due to a neurological episode over the holidays I have had to begin the process of retaining my brain. Functions that used to be automatic now often take a moment of thought. The good news is God has provided the method to have the brain reprogram things and regain the function that was lost.
As I have been going through this process I have compared it to spiritual things. We have events that come into our lives that upset our normal methods of interacting within the Kingdom. It seems we are “off balance” for some reason or another. Prayer or worship or study that once came so easily now seems difficult if not impossible.
Just like the discipline I have to exact to retrain areas of my life, the Holy Spirit is here to guide us back to where we need to be spiritually. If we yield to HIM, HE will show us the path to reestablish that precious time of meditation of the word and to ignite the passion in our prayers. The secret is to realize we can begin again.
Just as I had to realize what had happened and determine not to be discouraged by the event but to retake the lost ground, we must do in the spiritual. When the enemy points out how far we have diminished, we need to remind him that our Lords’ name is Redeemer. HE will enable us to redeem what has been lost and actually make it sweeter and more powerful in our lives.
Hope to see you in a Tea Room soon,
Elizabeth Foy
