I love Casting Crowns. For those who do not recognize the name they are a powerful worship group that brings forth the most wonderful music. At times it is convicting, other times soft worship, and at other times a kick in the pants.
Their new album Thrive leads with a song by the same name. When I was listening to it recently I was reminded afresh of what we are meant to be and do. Too often we settle for humdrum in our lives. Please don’t zone out right now. I am not talking only to those people who have those world changing ability jobs or those so wealthy they can affect an individual life at the drop of a check. NO! I am talking about workaday people like you and me. We are meant to live exciting lives filled with supernatural interventions of God.
I have a friend that recently celebrated five years of being free of breast cancer. On her post that day she acknowledged the mile stone of surviving. When I read her post I had to comment that she was not a survivor but a “thriver”. I say that because she did not make one day after another day. NO, she grabbed life and filled it with the adventure of her and God accomplishing something together that some medical teams did not think was going to be successful. She lives daily with an expectation of God’s intervention in daily things.
We are meant to be naturally supernatural. We are meant to experience God’s incredible presence in everything we do every day. Then we are meant to transfer that experience into the lives of others by our testimony and our example and our willingness to go out on a limb and decree what the Word of God says about something.
I admit after my surgery I had about two weeks of surviving. That was the period of time spent letting others advise me on life rather than going to the source that cannot fail. Once I shut the other voices off and sat in the Presence of all life and Glory, spirit returned to my life. I no longer survive, I thrive. I am up for any adventure God is willing to put in each of my days. Do all my days turn out the way I always dreamed? NO! Has life turned out the way I always dreamed? NO! But I began about 2 years ago praying a statement like this, “Lord I no longer want to accomplish the dreams I have in my heart. I want to accomplish the dreams YOU have in YOUR heart for me”. Through so many things HE has shared with me during my surgery recovery and healing from cancer, HE has shown me that HE has much bigger plans than I can dream.
Join me in a campaign to not let life get us down. Do I wish some things were different? For sure!! But since most of them are not things I can change I am changing me. I am determined by the power of God to find joy in every morning, strength for every journey and guidance for every decision. I am going to THRIVE!
Hope to see you in the Tea Room soon,
Elizabeth
