I rarely go to movies so I have not seen the most recent Hobbit movie (or others to my knowledge) so this sentence may not be absolutely correct. Recently I heard someone comment on having seen the Hobbit movies and how one scene had impacted their life. As usual there was scene of conflict between good and evil. The wicked army was watching the good army approach. Evidently the wicked ones had felt they had the upper hand until they noticed something. One of them makes the statement, “Look they are lining up behind their king”.
When I heard those words my heart was pricked. I felt the Holy Spirit was asking me to review who I was lining up behind. I don’t mean who I believe is Lord and Savior. I mean on issues of life. Whether it be matters in the church or family matters, or political matters, am I lining up behind Jesus. Or am I at times guilty of lining up behind popular opinion, giving in to peer pressure.
The lines are becoming clearer. The line in the sand is deep. Daily we are being given the opportunity to line up behind someone or something. The Holy Spirit is equipping us in this hour to make Kingdom choices. I don’t know about you but I don’t want the onlookers to doubt who I follow. I have got it nailed on the big things. You know, the don’t cuss, don’t steal, don’t commit adultery, don’t get drunk, etc. But the areas where I have trouble is managing to develop the same heart attitudes as Jesus. Because those attitudes sooner or later will come out in words or actions.
When the enemy’s camp looks over the battlefield called Elizabeth’s life I want him to exclaim in horror to all his minions, “Look she is lining up behind her KING”. As can be inferred by the line in the film, to line up behind a powerful king is to ensure the defeat of the wicked one. There is nothing in the movie line that indicates the wicked ones were afraid of the opponent. It was only when they lined up behind their king that they were a threat. I am not foolish. I have no illusions that anything about me threatens the enemy. But when I line up behind my KING in the issues of life and heart then the kingdom of darkness does tremble.
